In the world of luxury hospitality, sound plays

interiors, food, and service. Keeping this philosophy in mind, Otters Club in
Bandra, Mumbai recently upgraded the sound system at its popular OTR Bar with a
world-class Meyer Sound solution.
The project was initiated with a clear
objective — to replace the existing audio setup with a premium sound system
that could deliver exceptional clarity, balanced coverage, and seamless
integration with the venue’s sophisticated interiors. The club management
wanted an audio experience that matched the luxury ambience of the space
without compromising on aesthetics.
Following an in-depth live demonstration, the
performance of the Meyer Sound system immediately impressed the
decision-makers. Despite the compact size of the loudspeakers, the system
delivered powerful, detailed, and immersive sound that exceeded expectations.
After extensive discussions and technical evaluations, the project was
successfully awarded.
One of the biggest challenges during the
installation was executing the project within a fully operational hospitality
environment. Since the OTR Bar remained active during the installation phase,
the team had to ensure minimal disruption to the club’s daily activities while
maintaining strict installation timelines.
The venue’s existing false ceiling structure
added another layer of complexity. With limited clearance between the slab and
ceiling, accessing suspension points and routing cables required innovative
rigging techniques and meticulous execution. Careful planning and coordination
became essential to achieve both technical efficiency and visual cleanliness.
The system design focused heavily on achieving
maximum sonic performance with a minimal visual footprint. Since aesthetics
were a key concern for the client, every loudspeaker position was strategically
planned to blend naturally into the venue while still providing uniform sound
coverage across the space.
Using advanced MAPP 3D simulation software, the
team modelled the room acoustics, speaker placement, and coverage patterns in
detail. This allowed accurate prediction of system performance before
installation and ensured optimal loudspeaker positioning based on the room
layout, projector screen orientation, and operational requirements.
The final installation featured a carefully
selected combination of Meyer Sound loudspeakers and processing systems,
including:
- 3x
ULTRA-X20 – Compact full-range loudspeakers
providing the main audio coverage.
- 2x
UP-4slim – Slim-profile loudspeakers used for
fill zones, ensuring consistent sound throughout the venue.
- 1x
USW-210P – Powered subwoofer delivering
powerful low-frequency reinforcement.
- 2x
USW-112P – Additional powered subwoofers
enhancing low-end depth and coverage.
- 1x
Galileo GALAXY
The setup delivered the perfect balance of compact design and pristine high-output audio performance — ideal for a premium hospitality venue.
Despite the structural limitations, the
installation team successfully completed the rigging, wiring, commissioning,
and cable management with exceptional precision. The entire process was
completed in approximately five days.
Once commissioned, the transformation in sound
quality was immediately noticeable. The management was particularly impressed
by the clarity and consistency maintained across all listening levels. Whether
during relaxed lounge hours or energetic evening sessions, the system delivered
rich, immersive, and evenly distributed sound throughout the venue.
One of the most memorable moments came during
the initial demo session. Initially sceptical about the compact speaker size,
the client compared the system against larger competing solutions. However, as
soon as the demonstration began, the sound performance completely changed their
perception. The compact system delivered such remarkable clarity and power that
the evaluation team reportedly stopped referring to their scoring sheets midway
through the demo.
The project was successfully executed by the
team at Star Professional Audio, comprising Suren Gamre, Sajjad Waghela, and
Neil Dharmai, in collaboration with the Sun Infonet team, including Jeremy Rana
and Yatin Tawde. Their combined technical expertise, meticulous installation
work, and system tuning support were instrumental in delivering the outstanding
final result.

“While the dimensions and surfaces of the room
were not ideal for sound reproduction, the installation team’s choice of ULTRA-X20
speakers was excellent. The compact size of the units complements the room's
décor, and the SPL levels produced are impressive.
Given that the OTR Bar hosts live
entertainment, speaker positioning was critical to ensure maximum
intelligibility throughout the audience area. Although management had
restrictions regarding subwoofer placement to prioritize guest seating, the
performance of the ULTRA-X20s remains amazing. Regular
guests are now enjoying a high-quality audio experience.
